LOCAL NEWS & EVENTS
Congressman David Scott withdrew his support of H. Res.
106
Dear Friends:
On April 7, 2007 the Turkish community met at the Efes Restaurant in
Marietta for a fundraiser for Georgia Congressman David Scott of
District 13. The congressman was able to meet with members of our
community and tell him first hand our point of view on many topics
including the Armenian Issue. As Honorary Consul General of Turkey, it
was my pleasure to give the Congressman a book on Ataturk and another
publication of the Turkish side of the Armenian Issue.
I am thrilled to tell you that after our meeting, Congressman David
Scott withdrew his support of H. Res. 106, a bill which he had
cosponsored dealing with the Armenian Issue. This was a major step as
Congressman Scott had to appear in person in the Congress and ask for
his name to be withdrawn and give reasons for his actions. I would ask
everyone in our community to please call or write to Congressman Scott
and thank him for this action.
I would also like to send my personal thanks to the officers of GTAAG
and TACA-GA who worked so hard to put this event together. We have much
work to do but we will achieve success if we all work together for
Turkey and its issues.
Sincerely,
Mona Diamond
